The Formula for Success in Home Business

Here's the exact step-by-step formula I followed that has given me the awesome life I now have. I've shared this formula with hundreds of people and they've duplicated my success...sometimes even faster. Some of their success stories are below.

1. Find a System That Is Working Already

I am of the mindset that if one person can do it, I can do it too. So, I figured the easiest way be successful would be to follow somone who was already successful. Why reinvent the wheel? Systems work. There is a great acronym for system: Save Yourself Time Energy and Money! I was a high school teacher and that's pretty much all I knew, so I wanted a system that would give me the ability to be successful without having to spend a ton of time learning it. I have had tremendous success in home-based business. Not because I'm particularly smart, but because I know how to find systems and use them...I let other people be smart and create the systems for me.

2. I changed my thinking about money.

To Get Different Results I Had to Change the Way I Was Thinking: The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. To make a change I had to start with me; how I was think, how I was operating on a daily basis.

As an employee, I was always focusing on my circumstances and my bills. I thought in terms of what was urgent or immediate, instead of setting goals and focusing on them.Fortunately the company I got started with was a personal development company so they provided me with the tools to change my way of being and my way of thinking. Doing so enabled me to get some pretty amazing results quickly.

I also had to change my attitude about money. I had learned everything I knew about making money from my family and, unfortunately, they were not rich or even well-to-do. Most of my decisions were made by whether "I had the money" or being "realistic". That mindset kept me broke because I was letting money rule my life instead of me ruling money. I let alot of opportunities pass me by because of this. Once I realized that I had to be in control of my circumstances to change them, everything changed. When I found the opportunity that I've been talking about, I didn't have the money...but I found it. And, because I made a decision regardless of my circumstances, I realized my own power and that was a huge catalyst to success

These guys have definetely benefitted from my new way of thinking.

3. I learned from the best.

As a teacher, I was surrounded by other people complaining about their circumstances. There was a study done at an Ivy League school that stated, "...a person's income is the average of their 10 closest friends." No wonder I was broke! I had to change my environment and my circle of influence.

So, I found people getting incredible results and followed them. In my opinion, working with someone who was already successful, helped me be bigger than myself. My mentor, Shane, expected more of me and so I gave more. I learned a tremendous amount and didn't have to waste time or money on trial and error...I just followed what I was told to do. Basically, I was ignorance on fire and had a great leader to learn from. That made me a great leader and my own ability to lead grew. That has trickeled down among the hundreds of people I've taught how to be successful using the same system I have been using.

4. I learned new skills.

There are so many opportunities out there that promise "we'll do all the work for you". Well, that puts a person in the same position they were in when they worked a job...totally dependent. My philosophy is different. I learned how to market and use the internet and that's what I teach people to do. Marketing is the most valuable skill on earth. Anyone who truly wants to be independent and successful in business, has to learn how to market...you have to learn how to market you. It also enables a person to be self-reliant, the most valuable commodity in the world.

Learning anything new can be daunting. But the rewards to learning how to market are tremendous. Literally, it can be the difference between being a 7-figure earner or settling for a paycheck. Marketing can be easy. There's a few fundamental principles that make it all work. All you do is put an ad out and people respond; lots of people. Think about it...You are on this webpage because you are considering RIGHT NOW the idea that a better life is available for you. So is everyone else! Just think of the saying, "Give a man a fish; feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish; feed him for a lifetime!". That's why my team has been so successful...they've learned to market using the same system I use.

5. I went global.

I lived in Tucson when I first got started in business. It's beautiful but also economically depressed in many ways, so I didn't want to be dependent only on my city. I also didn't want to have to leave my house to do coffee meetings and such. In fact, I didn't want to be dependent only on my country. So, using some simple strategies I learned about the internet, I market globally. Which is awesome because my business isn't affected by economic ups and downs. We live in a global market so anyone who truly wants a prosperous future, must learn to be a part of the global market. The internet is an amazing resource for anyone to benefit from the global economy.

6. Leverage: The Key to Working Smarter.

Most people spend their entire life trading thier time for money. To earn more, they have to work more.

So, How Can You Work Less, Make More: There is a distinct difference between employees and entrepreneurs:

Employees: Trade time for money. To make more, you have to work more.

Entrepreneurs: Use leverage to make more and work less. Leverage means you are profitting from the efforts of others. So, whether you are sleeping, working or playing, you are making money. The more leverage you have, the less you have to work and the more you can make.

Without leverage, you will never get rich nor will you ever be financially independent. Leverage is the only way...just ask your employer. Lots of people get angry because they work really hard while their employer is living a jet set lifestyle in a big house, with nice cars always on vacation. Well...that's the choice the employer made. The person who chooses to take advantage of leverage gets lifestyle, while the person who doesn't gets to work hard.

Keep More of the Money You Make: Employees pay more taxes...it's simply a fact. As a business owner, an entire world of tax advantages and "write-offs" become available to you, enabling you to keep far more of the money you earn, so you can have that money working for you. Any person who is serious about generating wealth and keeping it has to have their own business. Sit down with a professional tax advisor and they'll map out the benefits you'll realize.

8. When Opportunity Knocks, Answer the Door!

Like I said earlier, there were many opportunties I let pass me by because of my limited thinking.  Millionaires are made by jumping on board emerging trends and booming markets. They take full advantage of the "next big boom". Just think of all the people who made millions in the dot.com boom; the millions made in the up real estate markets...and all the people who missed the boat simply because they were waiting to see other people's results before they'd believe in themselves enough to make a move.

The funny thing about opportunity is it shows up at the most inconvenient times. But that's why everyone isn't rich. Opportunity kind of separates the men from the boys. The people who look at opportunity and say..."whatever, I'll do it!" are the one's who win. The people who say, "Now's not a good time"...well, opportunity rarely knocks twice.

To become independently wealthy, I had to become a risk taker. Procrastination had cost me tons of time and lots of money. I realized it was never going to be a "convenient" time...it was just time.

9. I Pushed Past My Fears

Fear of the unknown, of failure, of looking bad to my friends had kept me stuck for so long. I finally realized I had to push past it to find the success I wanted.

Who cares what others were going to think...they weren't living the life I wanted, so why should I listen to them?

What had kept me working a job I hated and struggling with debt for so long was my own fear. I was in a comfort zone...even though it was terribly uncomfortable!. I looked around and so many people were failing.

Even when I looked into home based business, there were people who failed. And, it seems like the failures love to spew about it on the internet. What a waste of time that is! But, there are also tons of successful people. I just made the decision to be one of them. I knew that if I kept looking at failures and resonating with them, I would become one of them. So, the opposite had to be true too. If I resonated with the winners, I would be one of them. And...I became one of them pretty quickly!

Fear is a powerful emotion designed to help you survive. It's what keeps you from putting your hand on a hot stove. Fear can also prevent you from thriving. The goal of fear is to get you to play it really, really safe so you won't hurt yourself. I think we all know the results of playing it safe: bored and broke. As humans, we have an ability to evaluate our fear, analyze and then dismiss it. Learn to trust yourself and go with your gut. Only you are able to determine your success and what is right for you.
